In last decade, social media has affected a lot on internet as well as the life of people. Social networking sites like Facebook have been a hit for various reasons. There are many benefits of using these sites. However, each coin has two sides. There are several disadvantages of these sites, too!! Fake profiles on such networking sites are a big headache and no one has a control over it. Such profiles only distract the users and eat up electricity as well as bandwidth. There are no codified rules/tips for identifying such profiles. Here are some random characteristics of fake profiles that can help in identifying such profiles on Facebook. A profile photo says almost everything about the person and his/her mentality. If a profile picture seems more than attractive, there are more chances for the profile to be fake. Privacy settings: 

Most of the fake profiles over Facebook do not use a high – secure privacy setting that means, they are generally open for all. You can access their friend list, wall posts and other information without even sending a friend request to them. Such profiles even show the photos to everyone.

Less profile/wall photos:

It is also an important feature about fake profiles. In a fake profile you will find no or very less profile/wall photos. However, you will find number of photo tags, either by applications or manual.

Wall (Timeline) activity: 

Such profile holders do not post on their wall frequently. The things you can find on their wall are new friendships, photo tags. Such profile holders do not comment on others' updates/activities, in general. 

Presence:

Fake profile holders do not remain online. You will never find such persons available for chat. This is one of the easiest ways to find fake profile on Facebook.

Number of Friends: 

Generally, fake profile holders have very high number of friends, mostly in thousands. Moreover, most of their friends are girls. Most of the fake profiles are of girl’s.
